Just wanted to give a quick thank you to the 89.7 WTMD Towson radio staff for playing Here We Go on Tuesday and Saturday this past week.
Also, I’ve got a show from 7:00 – 8:30 PM this Friday 8/12 at Joe Squared in Baltimore. Excellent scene for good local music and some folks touring through town. The shows there are also always free. The evening acts are Brave Noise and indie rockers with a bit of jazz influence Community Center.

Songs from While the Cosmos Interweave are currently being considered for rotation on 300 college and community radio stations in the U.S. and Canada. As an independent artist I need your help to help increase exposure!
Please call in to a station local to you and request one of these three songs to be played on the air:
1. The Sheets We Fell Beneath
2. Here We Go
3. May
Below is a list of all the stations the album is currently at with potential for adding songs to their regular rotations. to request a song simply call or email the station manager or programming director. As an unknown independent musician one of the hardest things to do is get exposure throughout the country. Any help you can provide would be extremely appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
Kind regards,
-J

In the past year I’ve written about 5 songs I’d like to start recording in the next few months. One song “Fractured Frame” is being recorded by one of my other music projects The Petticoat Tea Room.
I plan on running some of my other new songs by that group to gauge interest but ultimately I plan on recording these songs myself for an EP release sometime next year.
I have a couple rough demos now. If you would like to hear them just send an email to jgudenmusic@gmail.com and let me know you’d like a copy of the rough cuts.
Best in the new year,
-J

I’m not very impressed with the Bandcamp site from that last post. Multiple times I tried to upload files and the tracks were posted crackling sounds in them. Music can now be streamed here.
Best,

So, I guess this is my website. I am very proud of my friend Paul who put this together for me. He is a very talented and charming man.
I look forward to having my first album While the Cosmos Interweave available for purchase on itunes, Amazon music and a host of other music sites by September. In the meantime, you can stream tracks at www.reverbnation.com if you search for j-guden.
I am working on booking shows now and hope to have some posted in the next week or two.

I have recently joined the other late adopters on twitter at http://twitter.com/jguden.
Say hello if you have an account.

The album is almost wrapped up. Cover layout, mastering and pressing should be ready by July.
There were issues over the past few months with the person I recorded with. Not so much his work, which is good, just that he is in a band and was touring constantly. I get it…I should be doing that, but it has just been hard to stay focused with all the timing gaps. There was too much time to second guess and rethink songs. There is a lot to be said about spur of the moment decisions in music. As the song is fresh and in that moment something very different is captured. In my head there has been this struggle of wanting to keep moving forward and probably over thinking parts.
I will probably only work with this person again if we agree to a set amount of dedicated time on the project up front. From start to finish this has taken two years. That is over a year too long. I am not putting blame on the sound engineer. Many of the delays were my doing.
I have been writing more and want to move on to recording and performing new songs. Songwriting is a joyous, production labor sometimes is not. But…everything is good. Everything.
-J
All the tracks have been recorded. I had some very productive sessions in the stu
dio with my friend Corey. We covered a lot of ground with harmony vocals and getting a old honest sound on a just acoustic, voice and shaker/tambourine track called Sunnywine. The first time tracked just was not working for me. You can hear some of the currently unmixed tracks on myspace or reverbnation. I should hear rough mixes this coming week.
Progress has been made and I am still excited for completion. I’ve been working on writing a number of new songs that are mostly finished so the next album or EP (I haven’t decided what it will be yet) will be in progress while I am out playing this record live.
Just as a note, I’ve been listening a lot to Dan Auerbach lately. He released a solo album recently called Keep it Hid though he also is a member of the Black Keys. The range of styles on his album moves from old-time folk to romantic-50′s melodic to psychedelic blues. I’m smitten with it at the moment. Enjoy.

Its been awhile. I’m aware. I’ve been constantly listening to Armchair Apochrypha by Andrew Bird for the past 3 months, so at least I got that going for me.
The album is 90% finished and the last 10% is kinda feeling like a drag. After being told by the old sound engineer he was going to be too busy to finish up the final 3 tracks and get final mixing done I took the files and have been looking around. No luck yet finding the person to help me finish it off. I will have that figured out in the next two weeks. Its about 3-4 days worth of work away from finished. The name will be “While the Cosmos Interweave” and the cover artwork is a recent painting of mine (above left).
In the past few months The Petticoat Tearoom had a number of shows. We played a great night at The Ottobar in Baltimore and had a decent show at The Barn out in Parkville, MD as well. People dance when we play…I love looking out into a crowd of feverish movement and inoxicated smiles (pictures from Ottobar below).
